Generating a Pie Chart

  • open is_a relationship GO:0008150 : biological_process  [140909]
    • close is_a relationship GO:0043473 : pigmentation  [128] Pie Chart for pigmentation
      • open is_a relationship GO:0043476 : pigment accumulation  [10]
      • open part_of relationship GO:0043474 : pigment metabolic process during pigmentation  [0]
      • open is_a relationship GO:0048066 : pigmentation during development  [97]

If a GO term is fully expanded (i.e. all its children GO terms are displayed), a pie chart icon will appear at the end of the line. Clicking on this icon will generate a pie chart showing the distribution of genes and gene products associated with that GO term and its children.

Understanding Pie Charts

The pie chart shows the distribution of all gene products associated for that GO term and its child GO terms. The pie chart is drawn on the top half of the page with the total number of gene products annotated to each GO each listed in a table below. The GO term name is a hyperlink that directs you to the term details page for that GO term.

Please note that the total number of genes and the percentages listed may not equal 100% because a gene product may be annotated to multiple children GO terms.
