For those actively working on manual annotation of gene products using GO terms; discussion topics include term usage, syntax, etc., rather than annotation policy decisions.

Non-interactive mailing lists
The following mailing lists are open to all but should not be used for posting.
- GO diff: daily messages containing the overnight changes in the ontology files (generated by the obodiff script provided with OBO-Edit).
- New ontology requests: new items in the GO curator requests tracker at SourceForge.
Interest group mailing lists
The following mailing lists have been set up for the discussion of specific content or annotation issues, and are open to any users wishing to contribute and participate in the discussions.
- Binding: annotation and ontology issues related to "binding" terms
- Electron Transport
- Immunology
- Microbial Biofuel Production: discussion of microbial gene products involved in natural biological processes, molecular functions and cellular components that are relevant biofuel production such as biomass conversion, methanogenesis, hydrogen production and microbial photosynthesis.
- Neurobiology: anything relevant to neurobiology or the nervous system, including neuron development.
- Protein Complexes

- Signaling
- Transport
- Viruses: anything involving viruses from any of the ontologies.
